I posted about 6 weeks ago about her health going down hill and this weekend it really went bad fast :(

It was really hard to make that call but the vet was great and i feel a lot better about doing it today

It was a good 11-1/2 years she bought a lot of joy into are lives :)

It is never easy because of all the joy they do bring into our lives, but sometimes it is for best.

Sorry to hear your news Tommays.
It's always very sad time.
I'm sure if she could talk Emily would have thanked you for making the call and not let her suffer.

Awwww, Tom. :'(

Really sad, sir. I lost Catzilla (12 years) a few months ago and that hurt, but no cat is as dear a companion as a good dog.

I hope this is not considered a hijack. I was gonna start my own thread, but maybe our Maggie is hangin' with Emily . . .

I just got home from the vet without Princess Margaret (Maggie), our 10 year old Lab. Bye Mags, Maggers, MaggieMoo, Moo-Goo, Moogers, Maggott, Moogett :'(

QC, too much sorrow for one thread. :'( The loss felt at the passing of a family’s dog can only lesson with times passage. May Maggie live forever in minds and hearts of your family. Sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to both of you. I guess we can only enjoy them for what little time we have them here. An animal's love is so unbelievably unconditional its no wonder when they pass on that we feel so empty inside.

My deepest condolences my friends. :(

Terribly sorry for the both of you. Tough to put into words what a good dog means. But most of us know. Best to you and your families now that they are at least a little changed. :'(

My heart goes out to both of you..a dog is a so much more than just a dog...he's a friend, a companion, a protector and will love you no matter what.

Remember the good times you had with them, it will bring smiles..they way they ran or snored or played.....

Re: Goodbuy Emily

I know your pain guys,My 14 year old boxer-sheppard mix was my best friend and the smartest dog i ever had.
I even had to fight to get him during a divorce a few years ago.
I put off having him put down 3 times before i finally got the guts to do it.His health was getting very bad.
It hurt more losing him than getting a divorce.
His last night he got steak on the grill and slept on my pillow.I didn't sleep.
I held him on my lap when the vet give him the shot...
Think of all the good times and the love they gave you.
I know the pain....God Bless!!!

Re: Goodbuy Emily

I have been lucky to have three great hunting dogs that could be great companions and family pets at the same time. The only way to get over the loss is when you do get another one you don't compare the new one to any of the old ones. All three of my dogs had a trait or behavior that was special just to them. I still miss them all.
