In a few hours I'll be picking up my new Alumacraft with a Mercury outboard. I've been a member of this forum for over six years and this is my first new thread, although I've tried to contribute when my limited knowledge has allowed. Ive learned so much from just reading other posts that allowed me to keep "old faithful" running into my 28th year of owning her. Just wanted to say thanks to all the brilliant and dedicated posters on this board (too many to list, but you know who you are) who invest so much time to help others. I'll still be lurking--looking at this and other forums. Time to move on, but thanks again...Regards, Mike

Re: Goodbye and Thanks!!

Did you trade in or sell off your old boat? You know it is OK to have two boats. LOL

Donald-
I traded it in on Thursday for about half of what I paid for it 28 years ago. It was sold by the time I picked up the new one on Saturday!! I know she'll give the new owners many more years of great service. Taking the new one out tomorrow for its maiden voyage. Regards, Mike

Sounds like you are the kind of guy that takes great care of his equipment. Old boat selling that quick is a testimony to that. Have fun with the new boat, but stay around iboats. New boats have issues too!

Sea ya...

Yep, she was my baby and always garaged and waxed and polished. Normal maintenance always performed. Still had all the accessories that she came with plus a few extra goodies I added. Had a few minor engine issues the last couple of years, but still sad to see her go. The new one has a lot to live up to!! Regards, Mike

I hate people that buy a boat and flip it for another one in as little as 28 years. . . you need to learn to hang onto stuff a little longer :D
Enjoy your new Alumacraft, for the money you can't beat them for their quality.
It's not goodbye as I'm sure we'll hear from you in the Alumacraft forum . . . post some pics!
