I went yesterday on a 2 1/2 hour one way trip to look at a boat after working a 11 hour shift at work. Upon getting there and waiting for the guy to show up (he had a 20 minute drive) the weather turned off bad and the bottom fell out. So i did not to get check out the boat like i wanted to. We went to crank boat and battery was to weak to crank it... I checked everything i could and went with the guys word (it usually runs like a top) Anyway long story short i got it home put it on slow charge over night went out this morning going to try to crank it when i noticed a couple of the coils had been leaking. so i decided to check for fire and have weak spark on all 4. did a compression check and was around 100 on 2 and 60 on the right 2 pulled the head and noticed i have some minor scratches on the right bottom cylinder wall. I can move both pistons side to side. Just wondering if this thing is worth building and where can i find the right oem book on it i keep pulling up the seloc book and i have had them b4 and do not want another one lol.
Model # on the motor mount is E115TLCNB ( i think means it is a 1982?) Thanks in advance

It is a 1982 and you can go to Ken Cook Company and order your service manual there. Good luck

Broken piston rings is the most common failure on these crossflows.----Many folks won,t believe it though.

Piston rings do not just break, they break from coking of ring lands, overheating and cooling issues and locating pin failure. Most people think rings are for compression but they also pull the heat from piston and transfer it to cylinder walls.

when i pulled the outer cover off it had a lot of white powder in it from the looks of things around the head the unit did get hot. Looks like the covers for the wires had melted some

Pull it apart and have all the cyl's miked, if more than .003 out of round or worn bore to next oversize.

If the cyl liner walls are scuffed, you are looking at an overbore on those scuffed cyls for sure. You need to be looking for the reason for the powerhead failure: misplaced or missing water deflectors, bad water pump, plugged high speed jets in one or more carb barrels, etc.

I Watched a very good youtube video yesterday on removing a powerhead and i got mine off with ease last night. Looks like only one cylinder has slight scuffs in it. so i will probably end up boring that cylinder for sure.but i am wondering would it be better to bore all of them or just the one? I have seen people go both ways so i am just curious on the cons really. Well looks like it was over heated emdsapmgr. took the foot off as well and inspected what was left of a water pump. I will finish taking the rest apart and get it to a shop to have mic'd
