My Carb is sitting too close to the exhaust manifold and the throttle linkage i believe will not go into its idle postion (startup position) I turned her on twice and she was revving way too high i immediatly turned the engine off and I realized that this was the problem.

what kind a plate/ riser can iuse to bring the carb to sit a little higher? The carb is rochester 2 jet its not oem. Thanks for any suggestions.. I ran her last year with 2 gaskets and that seemed to work but im thinking there might be a better or right way to fix this issue.

the linkage is disconnected and its not a stock carb.... last year i used two gaskets to raise the linkage so it cleared the exhaust mani. Does anyone know if they make thicker gaskets than the oem ones that come with the manifolds ?
thanks for the link fatfanny. the smallest is a 1/2 inch pus two gaskets that is much more height than i think i need.

For what it's worth you could just buy a roll of gasket material and make as many as you need just trace it out and cut or get a thin pc of aluminum plate and do the same (jig saw and file) Good luck

Yes they do make a thicker gasket, and if you are not able to search for it here, I saw many posts listed on the Marineengine.com forum. ( very common problem )

I've had a similar problem on a 3.0 where the bottom of the linkage on the carb scrapped the manifold.I just removed the lever and ground it down for clearance.

I am using a Fel-Pro 1/4" gasket that I switched to in trying to elminate hard warm starts which did not fix the warm start issue as I have learning there isn't really a fix for it. Other than that I had no ill effects switching from OEM 1/16" gasket to 1/4".
