The registration papers should show the manufacturer and year. Provide a pic and we might be able to guess. Replacement springs can be purchased from a local trailer dealer. If its road worthy, it should be legal. Sway is more likely to be due to having too low a tongue weight.

Re: got a free boat

Welcome to iboats!!

Twin coils and shocks? If so then it is probably a Hosclaw and there is no spring conversion because of the way the frame is on the trailer.

How does a Tilt trailer work? Well they are known to be womanizer's, lazy, fat and alcoholics  very few have real jobs!

Back in to the water....... unhitch the tilt pin..... and it launches....... you can retrieve just the opposite. It is not necessary to use the tilt mechanism but it does help under some shallow conditions.

Re: got a free boat

sweet thats it but idk if mine got shocks
what size is youre boat i think mines an 18 foot (you can id that too if you are bored) but my springs look a bit saggy and do you have any info on where you got youre shocks i work at pepboys and shocks are common
well now to ask about more parts for them like the lights like the round lights they look sweet but i wanna make it legal for the boat and make the brackets wider and add some running boards etc make the trailer look cool some time but the whole trailer will be rewired and i wanna do new tires and bearings do these things come with brakes on the axle or not?

Re: got a free boat

When you get it..... the axle is movable, the winch post is movable and the bunk adjustments are all movable...... you will see. Regardless..... worry about the boat ....... you have a long road ahead.
