It would appear that your Ign switch is shorted out if you got a shock.

Try a new one...let us know how you make out.

TMD

sounds like a bad ground to me, check the ground wires , unfortionitly you was the ground, the spark problem should be fixed with the ground wires fixed, if it was'nt cranking the starter would be the first place to look for a good ground wire tad

Rocks....have you checked the ignition fuse on the engine. It will be in a little red fuse holder on the engine harness.

Little confused also by your post.....You stated engine wouldn't turn over now you don't have any spark....does that mean you got it to turn over and now you don't have any spark?

Sorry, I guess I mean it cranked but would not turn over. I also found the wire to the starter came disconnected. Everything hooked back up but still no spark. So in summary- I had a red wire off the starter, got shocked when I touched ignition key, and now have no spark. My gut tells me I blew the power pack. Anyone have one or know where I can pick one up cheap(yeah right).

thanks again,
Rocks

Rocks....before replacing the pack, find out what caused you to get shocked in the first place or you may be buy two packs. Have you opend the control box and took a look-see? The only way to get shocked through the key switch is a direct short. I think I'd be checking the wiring and key switch out before powering up again.

My ignition just did that today on my 76 Johnson 70horse. Come to find out the lanyard switch or kill switch on the controls had shorted out.

Happened to me last yr, touching the steering wheel and throttle was shocking.

I traced it to the ignition barrel had rotated in the bezel due to being installed too loose by some bozo ..err...
