Got Boat Started won't shut off w/ key

Must people write in they can't start the boat mine started but doesn't want to shut off
Got the boat started no problem but went to shut it off w/ the key and nothing. Do I need a new igntion switch?
I had to pull the coil wire to stop it. Its a Merc 3.0 inboard
Any help would be great

Any chance you just replaced the alt.?

No Bt its the same alt
The belt was alittle loose
any other ideas?

Easy enought to test...after you start the engine, pull the main power wire off the back of the ignition switch.

I pulled all 3 wires off the igntion switch and the boa was still running.
Someome mentioned there may be a relay that may be stuck closed.
