Got engine in and good need to wire trim sender

I been over in electronics and can't find anything on wiring the trim sender. I'm looking at a 86 manual and it shoes it goes to a terminal right above the reset button. Brown, white wire on it. Mine is the 81 mercruiser 260 and cant get nothing to work. There was a white wire in the back I hooked it up to neg on battery and got nothing, I hooked it up to positive and got the gauge to peg. I assume that's right now I just have to find out were to plug the two trim sender wires in.

Go up to the Adults only sticky at the top of this forum and download the manual for you outdrive (#2) it has a troubleshooting chart and wiring diagrams for you trim system, the engine manual (#3) will have the instruments and engine wiring diagrams.

I have those Don, I been looking all morning and can't figure it out. I'll keep looking.
