I got this from someone i did not know ;real nice bullet boat,motor?sel#ob143291-mod 117526 he told me it was a 89 175hp i have been trying to find parts /and the # don't macth /KNOW THE TROUBLES/it runs good at idle up to 2000-2500 but after that 3000 it just quits like it ran out of gas/waterpress is 7+ idle --17+ 2500rpm /OH BY THE WAY the little hole on the bottom of the poppet leaks some water at idle but then it will stop when R's come up. IT HAS A 150 blackmax cowl /it has a high pro lower/ with low water pickup/cowl says 150 blackmax /it shows oilingection but it is running premix GOT TROUBLES--WIFE SAYS SHE IS GONE /I HAVE 10 boats/so what!!!

It sounds like the high speed winding in the stator is out

Check the stator and for spark in general. Check the compression as part of the "its a new to me motor" evaluation.<br /><br />If all of the above checks out...<br />Start with the fuel system. Work your way from tank to the fuel pump while checking fuel lines, primer bulb and inline filters. To test the fuel pump have someone pump the primer bulb while giving it throttle and if this saves the motor its time for fuel pump rebuild. Then it is off to the carbs, and if the motor was laid up for any amount of time they probably need to be cleaned.
