Thanks to many of you for your comments to prior threads.

We put down a deposit on a "leftover" 2007 Azure 22 foot Deckboat with a 2 foot swim platform (so 24'LOA) with a Merc 5 liter Bravo 3 (260 hp). Took it out for a test and it topped out at about 51 mph, handled very well and is very comfortable. The sweet spot for cruisin was 30-35 mph. Price was attractive...about 48% off MSRP, which made it price competitive with some older boats. Decided the warranty was worth the small difference.

Had the options we cared about...the dual battery and switch, windscreen door, bow cushions and table (with the added length, there is a good storage spot for both of these). It does not have trim tabs, but it performed well, so we will see whether we need to add them.

For those who saw the earlier thread...this is the boat with a water system, bow and stern showers, sinks and porta potti. So, time will tell if/how we use the water system.

Ordered a Vantage galvanized bunk trailer with surge drum breaks and swing away tongue.

Now we just have to pay for the rest of it....and count down until spring to use it!

Thanks for the many comments about several boat buying issues...helped a lot!

Congrats, sounds like a great vessel. 50% off even better!

At some point you might want to consider swapping out the drum brakes for disks especially if you do any boating in salt water.

Sounds like a really nice boat and a really great deal!

I was at the marina picking up some parts (or attempting to anyway, they couldn't look up any parts for my '67 Evinrude with the computer system, they said it was too old) I scouted a couple boats with some nice markdowns from last year. None were 48% off but more like 25%. Still, it got me thinking.

Going to wait until I actually use my first boat though. Think my wife would kill me if I asked about buying a new boat right now!
