my buddy has a hole at the bottom of his boat about the size of a pen hole (wear on the keel) how does he fix it let me know so I can pass it along

Drill the hole out and put a pop rivit with some 5200 sealer in it...

is there another way other then a rivit jb weld epoxy

5200 works great but if you aren't comfortable with that and a rivit you can try the aluminun epoxy sticks made specifically for aluminum boats. You can get them at any boating store and I am pretty sure I have even seen them in Cabela's and Bass pro shops catalogs. But again,like snapperbait said 5200 works great too.
