Got a new (used) boat with a freshly rebuilt VRO 90hp V4. It runs beautifully but I have a problem with going into forward. It shifts forward great but I have to really put muscle into it to push the shaft forward. I know my wife wont be able to drive it like this. What can I do. My mechanic said to disconnect the cable and if it is still stiff, there is nothing I can do. Any suggestions?

So i guess the question would be ,how do'es it feel with the cables disconnected at the engine? At both the engine and remote? You likely have a throttle friction adjustment screw on this remote .Whats the story with that?Remote controls can be a real bear to get together sometimes and will offer up a menu of problems if assembled wrong.Stiff operation is on the dessert side of that menu.I'dd be thinking more like cables.
