I am starting to restore a Merc 200 (20HP) 1963 model, serial 1593782. Had fire on one coil as is so I pulled flywheel to check ignition. One coil has no part number but the other has part number 398 2568T1 (correct coil). The resistances on the secondaries on the coils were alot different reading from the coil wire connection at the coil, to ground. One was around 7.3K to gnd, the other was way off (the unmarked one) 96K to ground. Checking around, most replacements were in the $59-79 range (absurd!) I can still go to NAPA and buy about any old OMC coil for about $25 but they "skip over" my serial number on their Merc replacements, so does iboats. Anybody seen a resonably priced replacement? At $59-$79 a piece, 2 coils would be more than I gave for the motor!

Hi,

I'd put the OMC coils on it then.

The price is, what it is, for orginals, otherwise you have to adapt the omc ones to work (if possible). You can't expect us to find one's for you, at a price your willing to pay.......
