I'm not the best per se with ocean navigation but I do what I can. Could someone please tell me if there is info out there on dive sites with GPS locations. That would make it a snap to find things...especially with these great new GPS navigation systems. If there isn't one out there then someone ought to create it!

*tstar

Re: GPS Diving Locations

The unfortunate answer to your question is NO...In fact the reality is that most of the Loran coordinates often found in dive books & gov. charts are completely false & misleading. You can attribute this to both the fishing guys that covet the wreck sites as well as the dive charts that make a living ferrying people...Best option is to make friends w/ people in the know & establish your own cataloge of GPS coordinates.

Re: GPS Diving Locations

there is a series of books for those in lake erie. i have an early edition and some of the sites are fairly easy to identify (see something on the bottom with the depth sounder) and others are not. this could be because the debris doesn't stick up from the bottom too high too. most dive shops around lake erie carry the book.

can't speak for other areas.

tstar--- you don't say where you want to dive, but there are a "LOT" of dive areas located on a number of charts off the NJ coast, some are designated for "Diving-Only"
