I live in Canada and just purshased mapecreate 6. I have noticed that there is a mapecreate 6.3. My question is how many years are between the two versions? Did the dealer sell me a out dated version to clear his shelf?

Re: gps mapcreate

I purchased mapcreate 6 about 2 yrs. ago and found that if you are using it for waterways navigation it is good enough to get you to where you need to go. However, as far as land navigation, they need to do a lot of improvement. There are roads that have been closed down for over 20 years which they are still showing and new roads which have been open for at least 5 years which they do not show. I know if you have purchased mapcreate, you can download updates. I'm not sure how much different the 6.3 is from the 6.0 but it's worth a shot to have the latest info.

I would normally recommend Navionics regional charts which indicate depth contour as well but I also understand the problem between the Canadian Ministry and Navionics may make it hard to get your hands on any Navionics charts.

Ditto on the Navionics chart. For all practical purposes-Mapcreate is not the way to go and I'm a loyal Lowrance fan!
