Well, I purchased a new Lowrance LGC 12w receiver and pluged it into my Lcx-15ct and I got the same message.
What should I do next short of giving Lowrance more of my money to fix my unit?
The unit does not have a seperate batterey backup like the new machines.

Michael

Check where it plugs into. Is there any corrosion? A bit of a wipe with something very ,mildly abrasive might help (like the pad you use to clean dirty dish pans) But be careful if there is pins there like on a Garmin be sure not to bend any.

Are you sure that the aerial doesn't require its own power supply. I have a seperate Aerial power lead on my 335 which you must connect to a 12V supply apart from the 12V supply to the display unit. If I don't power up the aerial I get the same message.. "Gps module not responding".
I am not familiar with your unit so I may be leading you up the wrong path but the instruction manual for my machine doesn't make it clear. It says that if I am not usin a 2000Buss then connect 12V to the red and black power cable and plug it into the back of the machine at which point it is ready to use. There is a seperate sheet saying that you also need to power the antenna.
Please check with Lowrance for your particular situation as you don't want to send 12v up the antenna if it is not designed to do so,
Keep posting your results and good luck
Andy

Try making sure you have good battery connections to your unit. Also make sure your batteries are charged. The gps module is the first thing to go out when you have a week battery. I ended up going through all the steps only to find the module is bad. I even plugged the module in the back of the unit without the extension cord to try to see if it was the extension cable.

Re: Gps Module Not Responding

Thanks for the help.
Here is what I found. My 2000 lcx15ct Lowrance has Version 1.3 software. Lowrance sent me Version 2and 3. They send me the chips for free and I loaded them on. Now when I mounted my new Lgc12w (wass) receiver it acquired a signal.
My old receiver was obviously bad and the new one needed a software update. Any questions with updating and rigging a new receiver just post. I went through all trouble shooting recommended here.
I now have GPS to mark my tog fishing spots.
Thanks again...this is a great board.

Thanks for the update. By sorting your problem out and posting it gives everyone another avenue to try when something similar happens to them.
Good fishing.
Andy
