I am thinking of a upgrade this spring, are the new models with the GPS option worth the extra money?
I was thinking of a min koda that I could add GPS later as a option.

Re: GPS on troling motor?

If you want to upgrade later, make sure the MinKota is a "V2" motor (newer tech). I upgraded a V2 to an I-pilot and I love it. The spot lock and tracking options are great. I don't even use my anchor anymore, no more hooking the rope. The only bad thing that I have encountered is if and when your battery in the hand held remote dies, you can not operate you trolling motor untill you change your batery. The foot control will not work with and I-pilot, keep a spare or replace your battery every year.

I give the I-pilot a 9 out of 10 (lack of foot controler).
