gps & overcharging

Have a gps that turns off when motor rms go up it beeps and shuts off due to high voltage. it is a merc 50 i have replaced the rectifer still does it. i have no experience here and i'm preaty sure this must be common with todays elec goodies.

Electronics objecting to high or low voltage is fairly common, AD.<br /><br />I don't know what your Merc does to regulate voltage output from the alternator, but a good twidget can put together a Zener diode regulator to protect your GPS from over-voltage.<br /><br />I am moving this to Electronics, where it will get better response.<br /><br />Good luck.
