First, yes I did search it. Posts are old, technology advances, products change. (Shame you even have to say stuff like this on a forum these days. Used to be people just answered your question and moved on, not beating you up.)

I have a new to me 1996 Mariah Z244 Jubilee. The speedometer supposedly doesn't work and has been checked by a marina to try to get it to work. I would like to have a speedo but don't want to beat a horse that's been beat with no results to much. Therefor, I'm looking into GPS speedos. Cabelas has a Faria for ~$80 which seems reasonable but, I'm hearing mixed reviews on it stopping working after a few months. I realize that all of them are going to have some bad reviews as its man made. So, with that said, what's other's inputs on a good one to look at and what should I figure to spend?

first, you should be buying thru iBoats. they match pricing

there are only about 4 gauge manufacturers in the world feeding the marine market. other brands are "branded pass-thru product" that originates at one of the major manufactures

VeeThree, Faria/Beede , VDO/Datcon, and Cobo

out of those, I would look at VeeThree (selling aftermarket thru Sierra as SeaStar solutions - formerly teleflex) https://www.iboats.com/shop/catalogsearch/result/?q=gps+speedometer

however with the issues of GPS gauges over time, i personally would stick with a pitot tube gauge as they are usually bullet proof (issue is normally the $3 hose running to it or the $5 pickup)

If you have room, remove the speedo and install a small chart plotter, otherwise Scott has the listing
