Re: Gps

Your question is too broad, hence the broad comment from Bondo.

Colour, B/W, handheld, dash mounted, electronic compass, barometric pressure, big display, small display, float, chart plotters???

Google "how to choose gps" and do some reading.

Warning: there are chevy people and there are ford people.

Personal preference. http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us

Re: Gps

i would like to have one to mount to the dash and that is chartplotter. I do want a decent sized color display but nothing real real fancy. How hard would one like this be to hook up and what all is invovled. Is there a difference between internal antenna and external. thank alot for the replies i'm a newbie

Re: Gps

Just highlight " how to choose gps" ,then right click, then pick search google. THat works with firefox not sure if it works with I.E.

If you are using IE8 then you can choose from a virtually unlimited number of options here. Map, blog, search, shop, etc. They're called accelerators. You can add your own or use the default which gives you about 6 or 8 to choose from.

Why not get a handheld? They come with mounting hardware too if you want it. I have a Garmen 60cx and it is great. Came preloaded with maps for north america, not the most detailed but you can download more maps. It works great, has color display and tons of features. Plus you can use it outside of the boat when you want.

No wiring to worry about and totally portable and reliable.
