Hello,

I am considering a Garmin gpsmap 431 mainly for navigation, but the s version with sounder is not much more money, like $30 I think. Should I just get the s version for Lake Champlain and smaller lakes, or use the Garmin for GPS only and look at a Humminbird maybe later?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The sounder on that 431 is as good as most. Unless you want side scan, the HB buys you nothing from a performance perspective.

Thanks ding, I appreciate your feedback. I am intrigued with the side scan tech, and will likely just hold off for now on a sounder.
