Re: Grady with OMC v-6

roverguy,

I myself recently purchased an 89' Grady 20' with the same engine. It is FWC and I run in saltwater as well. Do yourself a favor and have a mechanic look it over and conduct a compression check. I neglected to do this and now am paying the price. After my second trip out she overheated and now I need to replace the head gasket (to start)...

I suspect the root cause of my overheating problem might be the lack of water flow thur the manifolds at wot.

I like my Grady but will love it more when I get it back in the water...
Good luck.

Re: Grady with OMC v-6

Hi Roverguy, I inherited a 20' skiff with Johnson 150 V6 1979 four years ago. It had been sitting for close to 7 years. Changed the plugs and the gas and it fired right up and has been running great since. A little bit of work this early season, but I have already racked up 75 hours this year and she is running fine. I would have to say it is a good engine. She is 75% saltwater boat.
