My grandfather just gave me his Johnson FD-22a, # j2892874. I am not finding much on the net about an fd-22a, and hope someone may be able to tell me what year, hp, mix ratio, and book I should get to maintain it.<br /><br />THANKS!

And the one they sell that covers your engine is not bad at all (Seloc I). Likely, you'll find them also at your local libary. The superior manual is the original OMC factory service manual, which are still reprinted. Parts are available and inexpensive.
Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Congradulations on your acquisition of a 1968 20Hp Johnson. Good motors, still plenty of them in service. Premix is 50:1, points gap is .020", Champion J4C gap is .030". Plenty of parts still available to keep that classic purring. There are a few aftermarket manuals available. Try Ken Cook for factory manuals.
