Does anyone know where to get decal graphics online? My boat has no stripes or any graphics and i want to put some on. I like the look of Wellcraft's sportfishing cc. It is black and red with a checkered pattern. I called Wellcraft but they told me i had to have a dealer call. All of the decal sites online are horrible that i have been to. Any ideas on how to spruce up my boat?

Have you tried BOATUS, or go to the local yellow pages, there should be local guys that do boat lettering. Most are done on the computer, and are then pressed on. I had my boat name in 3 colors done for $125.00. The same guy does graphics from various art programs.

Re: Graphic decals....online?????

It seems like everyone does "boat lettering" , like a name or numbers etc. I am looking for a pin stripe that starts at the bow real small (2") and progresses back getting larger as it goes. At the rear of the boat, i am looking for the pin stripe to feed into a small design (2'). What i am really looking for is graphics that come on a lot of nice boats like Donzi or Wellcraft etc..... They have to sell them to someone dont they? (minus the name)

You might have to go to an automobile "Pin-striping" person, who can paint it on as opposed to a press-on.Most auto-dealers do the same thing.Mybe if you talk to a local boby shop they can help you.

I do not know where in SC you are, but in Charleston there is a Johnston's Sign Shop off of Remount Road that did my boat lettering for me:

Cost me about $30.00. He also did it while I waited... I just went in there with the dimensions of where I wanted to put it and he made it work on his computer. Piece of cake. I took it home and slapped it on!

Re: Graphic decals....online?????

I work at a commercial sign shop, just about any sign shop can do the job. Even the large graphics are pressure sensitive applied vinyl. The applied vinyl lasts longer than enamel paint, thats the kind of paint thats used, slow drying and keeps a wet edge longer, Vynyl looks better too Specify 8 or 9 year film, 3-M or Avery are the best. I've seen these films last 15 years.

C17 you got a deal or the guy was drunk. Most sign shops have a minimum purchase of around 75.00. If a guy sits down at a computer to write the program (design) than cuts out design weeds it and masks it, it will take 1/2 to 3/4 hours than there is the materials than profit. We would have charged you 75.00

There are those store front shopping center sign shops that work cheap but you get what you pay for. They use 2 to 3 year film of the cheapest brands. They have to cut costs somewhere to sell cheap. Go for the good stuff consider what it's going on (your gem) and the conditions (water) it will be in.

Purse Snatcher you are talking about a lot of graohics and maybe a logo with lettering. A good sign shop will be able to match anything you want, any logo too. If it a lot of larger or longer graphics or pin striping have the sign shop apply them. It's the cheapest part of the job if you take your boat to them. They have the experience to apply it straight and bubble free. ***the larger the design the harder to apply*** If you just want lettering like in the picture you could do that. From your description count on spending 200 to 400. Go to a commercial sign shop ask for the materials I noted, spend a little more but you will be very happy for a long time.

f_i you are in MD my shop is in Balto, been in business since 1930, I've been there 17 years. Give me your email address, I can probably hook you up with something nice and reasonable.

Just FYI ;)

Capt. U...

It only took maybe 20-30 mins for them to do it. It's a 3M vinyl, cut on one of those Gerber machines. In my old maintenance shop on the AFB here we had a *very* old Gerber that we used to make lettering with, and the Civil Engineer Squadron on base also uses a variation of one to make many of the building signs. It appears to hold up well - haven't seen any bad ones... I figure I got a good deal! :)

--C17LoadSmasher

C17

You did get a great deal! I was just kidding about the "Drunk...",I don't know anyone who would do it for 30.00 and the 3-M you're right on it will hold up very well - better than paint! Your boat looks great like the letter style too.

I just wanted to give the others a more realistic view about prices. Not everyone will get as good a deal as you did. Also depends what part of the country you're in. Sometimes if I'm not busy and a boat or motorcycle owner comes in the door I'll cut out a name and give it to them cheap. It depends on how big a job it is and what I'm doing at the time.

:)

Re: Graphic decals....online?????

All the "boat graphics" places online are for boat lettering. I want a colorful graphic about 5 feet wide and 2-3 feet tall. I will then add a stripe above the graphic. I would go to my local sign shop but they say "bring me a sample to put in the computer"... but i dont have one! I need someone to design one for me or i need to pick one from a bunch of samples. Wellcraft's website has a 25 fishing boat with a red & black tournament fishing edition graphic. I called Wellcraft and they do sell them.....to dealers. I would think someone online would have pages of sample graphics to browes through.......anyone?

Re: Graphic decals....online?????

Sent a copy of your picture to LAKE FIBERGLASS AND PAINT, Akron, Ohio. lakefiberglass@aol.com Asked if he could supply the decals. I was surprised that he replied in a couple of hours-on Sunday at that. Hope this helps.

His message:
First off being a new design, i am sure wellcraft could furnish decal.
I probably could order it thru my shop, but if not, i can reproduce it
in imron. My Name is Daniel Nichol, my number, 330 547-6420. Glad you liked my site, i am working on it in my spare time. In the process
of putting up a new building so i can provide a better service to the boating industry. Thanks for inquiry, if i could do anything for you, please let me know. Dan

-G.
