For those of us of who boat on these large bodies of water, what size and model SC are you using? I tried my 15' on Huron this past week and found that it pounded the waves pretty badly if going over about 8-10 mph. Do the bigger tinnies do this as well? Just curious as to how the size effects the ride. When I was in the marina and on the water I saw dozens of SC tinnies but could not tell the models... not many CC's though. What are y'all using?

Re: Greal Lakes/ ocean boats

I use what I got. Great lakes seem choppier than salt water. Many, many times I run less than 10mph so I don't pound the boat and myself. I have run both tin and FRP. The FRP are usually heavier and pound somewhat less, but they all pound depending on the condition. My current is a deeper V FRP than my 26' starcraft was and more deadrise at the stern. It does ride better so I can get 5 - 10mph out of it before I don't like the ride.
