Is it okay to use wheel bearing grease to grease the engine fitting and the steering slider? If not what is the correct grease?

Most any grease is fine for freshwater use. If you are boating in saltwater, I would recommend a marine grease. I use "Boat Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease" for all the boat and trailer lubrication points.

The Quicksilver special lube 101 is a little bit better for the steering rod for salt water boats.

A waterproof marine grease is the only way to go ... BRP Triple Guard, Lubriplate, etc.

My votes for BRP Triple Guard.

Triple Guard (blue) waterproof grease is what is recommended. The two zerks on the swivel bracket lube the tilt tube-has nothing to do with the steering.
