My neighbor has a 2007 2 stroke Yamaha 25. This morning, he asked me to take a look at the grease fittings on his engine, as he hadn't seen anything like them.
So, I looked at it, and sure enough, there were no zerk fittings on the tilt tube, nor on the cowling latch. Oddly, there was one on the lower part of the shaft, in the typical location you'd find one for greasing the steering.
But as far as the tilt tube, it was just 2 holes, and as best as I could tell, they did not appear to be threaded. What gives? Did somebody at the factory forget to install zerk fittings, or does this motor use some new special type of fitting that I haven't run across yet? Every grease fitting I've ever seen was a zerk fitting. If there's some other system used, this is a new one for me.
