Grease for drive shaft spline?

I'm working on replacing impeller for a Mercury Marine Force 40 Outboard. As I'm ready to install the lower unit back to the motor leg. Do I need to grease the drive shaft spline? If yes, what type of grease should I use?

Thanks

Anti-seize is preferable but grease will do. If you need to buy anything, buy anti seize rather than grease. If you don't have anything but grease, use that. in either case put it on sparingly and rub it into the splines. Do not "goop" it up. Too much will put hydraulic pressure on the end of the shaft and pre-load it.
