I just got back from my first day on the water in '09. Got the boat out of storage and brought it home yesterday morning. Yesterday we had ridiculous winds all day. The forecast for today looked much better. I couldn't get anyone to go with me so I went by myself. I started the motor in my driveway on muffs which took awhile. Probably because I didn't fog it or run the gas out of it or anything and there was old gas in the carbs. I made a special trip to go get gas for everything because they are rebuilding the gas station I usually stop at with the boat on my way to the lake. I noticed it was really windy when I was pumping gas. I was pissed, but when I got home there wasn't much wind at all. I decided heck with it I'll give it a shot but I was fully prepared to turn around and come home if I got down to the lake and saw white caps. Well I am SO glad I decided to go! When I got down there the water looked pretty calm so I launched. As I was out there it only got better! Certain parts were close to glass. I probably tooled around for over an hour and then loaded up and came back home. It was a great ride. The motor ran fantastically and everything went well except I did a rather crappy job of reloading the boat and did a bunch of dumb stuff with witnesses. I'll survive. Here's pics:

Wrights Ferry Bridge crossing the Susquehanna River between York and Lancaster counties.

Bridge again and the town of Columbia, PA. You can see how smooth the water got up that way.

The old Pennsylvania Railroad's low and high lines along the river.

Today's fun made possible by this old beast celebrating it's 36th year.

NICE!! its looks awesome out there. Good to hear that the boat ran good.

I just got back from a weekend of boat camping. Went out saturday morning at 800 i was in the water. and i just got back a couple hours ago. Probably spent 7 to 8 hours bombing around each day. Was really warm out and nice conditions.

I took her out a couple times this year but this was the first weekend. And my old 1979 chrysler was purring along also. Boat ran like a dream.

Awesome weekend even with a run in with the police. LOL they were at the gas dock when we pulled up and i guess they were bored so they checked that i had all the required equipment. And my operaters card. A lot of questions untill they saw that and realized i had been boating since i was 9 lol.

anyways nice pics and good to hear all went well for you. cheers

I'm so glad I'm not in the mid-west right now. Those guys are getting even more snow! Ugh. Rain forecasted for most of the week here. Glad I got out yesterday.

I hear that. Saturday was a great spring day-- did a lot of stuff outside, including taking the chains and snow shovel off the lawn tractor. Today we get 6 inches of snow.

Nice pics! PA is a beautiful state. Glad to hear you got your boat out for the first time in 2009. I got another month or so with some things I need to get fixed till she's totally ship-shape. guess I need to at least wait for the snow to melt...

Great pics. I'm jealous now as I tried to give it a whirl on the Hudson River last weekend, but they were predicting 30 mph wind gusts and only 55 degrees. Had the boat all dressed up, ready to go . . . but no cigar :(

I'll try again this coming weekend. On the Hudson if the winds are blowing north or south it's not a fun place to be on a 15 foot aluminum

Your motor being that old is a true credit to how O/B's used to be built!

Really good pictures. The shot back at the motor was really sharp. Looks like it's a new motor! You did a really got job with your rebuild and now time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. We launched Saturday for the first time in almost a month. Yeah, even here in Florida we have been getting the results of all those fronts pushing south.

Thanks guys. She's not by any means my ideal boat but she's served me well for 4 seasons and yesterday was a strong start for the 5th. I like that I don't have to be real careful with her. I got much more into fishing last year and I intend to do even more of that this year. I also hope to drag the boat down to Ocean City, MD with us this year for vacation which I've never done before. She leaks like a sieve though and I'll have to get that taken care of before a week in the water can occur. I'm rehabbing a better used trailer right now. I ordered all the rigging yesterday and hope to finish it up this weekend.
