I have a 12ft. gregor boat that has a 20hp motor. The guy that had it has renforced the transom area, but there was a split where the transom and bottom of the boat meet. He welded these areas but it has begon to split where their is no weld.
My question is I am going to have the area where the boats transom and bottom meet welded completly from end to end.
Is there any other way I could renforce this area better?
I thought about welding a piece of angle irion to hold the bottom and transom together?
It just seems to be too much torque on the transom of this boat so it seems that this problem could get worse if not fixed properly.
Thanks for the advice everyone

Re: gregor boat

Being an aluminum boat there's not a good chance that a piece of angle steel will work. The aluminum will melt while welding - just can't see it. If you do weld all across the area in question then I think all should be good.
I would definately contact Gregor Boats and throw that question to them. Maybe you're just overpowered????? Metal fatigue is usually caused by a constant stretching and moving. That's what leads me to the overpower thing. However I could be completely wrong - usually am. :D
