Ground bus bar: insulated from the hull?

Hi All,

I know that wiring should not be grounded to an aluminum hull -- there should be direct wire connections back to the negative pole of the battery.

But, if I use a ground bus bar wired to the battery, does that bar need to be electrically insulated from the hull, or is it OK to simply attach it to the hull?

Thanks,

Most ground bus bars (that I have seen) are mounted on plastic bases. If yours is not, IMHO, I would epoxy or screw it to a piece of wood or plastic aprior to mounting it to the aluminum hull.

Thanks! I ended up mounting it in the same junction box with a switch panel, so it's isolated.
