Re: ground wire

Normally......I say normally...A black wire from battery - would go to a buss bar in console and all other grounds from lights, etc. go to that buss bar. Exceptions are it is usually recommend to ground sensitive electronics to the battery directly.

Re: ground wire

I have a 1987 Bayliner with a Force 125. I found a fried #14 ground wire in the wire harness that ran from the motor to the fuse panel at the console behind the dash. All the ground wire insulation had melted buy luckily did not melt the other wires in the harness. There is also a #4 ground wire that runs from the motor to the battery. There is another #10 ground wire that runs from the battery to the fuse panel, which saved my ***. I ran a new #14 ground to replace the fried one that was in the harness. You can never have too many ground wires.
