Any of our iboaters know anything about this boat or this style of diesel boat. A family acquaintance has asked me to help him navigate some local channels that I am familiar with. I don't know the whole story, but he hasn't used this boat yet. I saw the registration letters are from NY. He has had it splashed at a local marina and has it moored there. I know the area and the channels, but don't know a thing about his boat and neither does he! I will try to post a picture he sent...but would like to hear from any of our guys about Grovers and if I will have anything unusual to deal with. I have been on a buddies diesel 32 sportfish and was comfortable running her.

Never heard of Grover before but I love her lines. I'd expect with that hull, the diesel engine is the only thing you're going to find it has in common with that sportfisher you mentioned. This girl is built for sedate and smooth passage. Probably gets great fuel burn numbers.

Definitely take and post pics of your outing on her!

She is definately one of the sweetest boats you will ever find, except for the fact that she is not the fastest in the world, she is the safest. Her sister ship was sailed across the Atlantic ocean . She is unsinkable and with a semi flat bottom can be left as the tide goes out and will stay upright if the ground is level. With a little bit of work you can extend the cabin and make her a mini cruiser. Her Ford Layman diesel package is one of the most economical engine in today's market, I cruise at about 7 to 8 knots and burn under one gallon per hour. I'm not sure as to how I go about adding a picture but I have many on file if you send me an email adress I'll be glad to send photo. David Naar Molly B 2 renovated.jpg

It was in the 1970's that Al Grover splashed a mold off of a Long Island Verity skiff (lapstrake w/ boxed garboard keel) in Freeport L.I. and created the Grover. But..... this is a three year old thread so I won't go on.
