Hi, I am looking at a 2009 (never titled, never in the water)18 foot Grumman pontoon boat. It has two electric motors and a 50Hp four stroke motor. Does anyone have any experience with this type of boat. We are no a large shallow lake in Ohio and the concept does look good; however, I would like some "other" prinions, comment, or feedback. The boat is a Grumman Classic (I believe (C1880E). The sales person called it a "hybrid". To those who answer - - - thank you....

Re: Grumman Hybrid 2009 Question

Welcome to iboats.

Are the 2 electric motors mounted on the engine, if so that is a type of trolling motor, I hav eno experience wiuth them but it seems like they woudl work really well and are normally pretty high powered which would be good for just rolling around the lake.

Something to keep inmind though is that if you have electric motors you are going have to charge batteries after every trip so if the boat is docked make sure you have power to it, I think most of the time you will be on the main engine though and a 50 on an 18 is a pretty nice setup.

As far as the hybrid part, don't expect it to be like a car, you may be able to get 3-5 mph from the trollers but that is all where a hybrid car you can't tell if you are on gas power or electric.
