gt200 lower unit problem

the other day i hit some thing idling around didnt seem to do any harm but later that day i couldnt get the unit to go into reverse still had forward no problem after looking it over i have a small crack with a hole in the nose cone did i wreck my lower unit and need to replace it or is some thing else wrong the shifter seems okay and the cable seems okay also not sure what i need to do to further check it out to find the problem anjy advise is greatly appreciated thanxs in advance mike

for got the mention the small crack and hole is where the low water pick up would be if it had it and dont see any oil coming out of it either will pull the drain plug when i get home today and see what it looks like

what year is the motor, i have an empty lower case i have been trying to get rid of for a while if you need one..its off of a 98 johnson 200, if its a 91 or up, it should fit. if you need it make an offer and send me your email if you would like pictures
