I bought a boat not that long ago and there are a couple of guages that arent in use. they look aftermarket from the boat. One is the trim guage and the other measures water pressure. In the lower unit maybe??

anyways, what do these connect up to on the motor to register?

thanks

Re: guages to wire up

Some motors have a trim sender located on the tilt bracket or inside the transom clamp. Look around for it.

Water pressure gauges measure the pressure of the cooling water inside the head. Look for a tapped plug on the head that you can remove and insert the tube that goes to the pressure gauge. if no threaded plug, you can tee into the telltale.

Trim gauge is fed by a tim sender on the motor. It indicates the angle of the motor as you adjust the trim. A water pressure gauge is mechanical gauge operated by water pressure as it passes through the engine. It provides a relative indication of the condition of the water pump impeller located in the lower unit of the engine. It has no bearing on whether the engine is being cooled properly. It only indicates whether or not water is being fed to the engine. It works just like the speedometer. A small hose runs from the gauge to a port on the engine. Some "T" into the tell tale, other connect directly to a fitting on the engine.
