Hey, i got an '89 larson hampton 220, and i had to do some wiring behind the guages today, when i pulled off this UGLY AS SIN cover that u can barely see the guages through, I found a nice brushed metal dash with guages that look amazingly good looking!

I want to take the plastic off and make the dash look good, is there any consequences to this? I am in salt water, but these guages look waterproof...

Thanks,

Dan

Some boats used the plexiglass panel over the gauges to prevent the sun from fading the faces. The panel is not necessary in most cases.

I faced this a couple of months ago with my CC. My instrument panel is recessed behind sliding plexiglass doors. I took the old faded and scratched doors off and took them to a plastics fab shop for replacement.

Re: Guages without the cover over it

do you guys know if a boat that goes uncovered will have problems with the guages? i just picked up a 76 searay srv200 and it was uncovered for a year or two. i am having problems starting it due to some electrical difficulties. i am worried that maybe the exposure to the elements has ruined circuits, wires, guages, etc ect.
thanks
corey

While Sun,+ Water are Never a Good Thing for electrical components,.......

I Doubt That's the Problem with your Starting Issues........The Gauges anyway.....
