You guessed it, barnacle removal!!!!

I just got the boat out of the water yesterday, out drive doesn't go in gear. This sucker is full up.

I just tried muratic acid. And all it did was clear my sinuses, I could see where the acid reacts to the shells but I was not impressed the fumes where pretty bad glad to be outside.

Going to marine store to try some different chemicals Like the triton line among others.

Oh yes, harbor freight will get a visit for a sander tomorrow also.

Any other suggestions?

I will get a respirator even though I'm not dealing with that acid.

Damn those little creatures

Barnacles! What a pain in the _ss! Did not know about barnacles until just a couple days ago. I am taking delivery on a new Parker 2320 from a marina. Originally I had planned to trailer the boat. But then thinking, I decided to get slip so I could have the option of leaving parked occasionally. Upon hearing this news, the marina said that I will need to get the hull painted below the water line. The dealer will paint it for me, I'll need to dish out yet more cash, more than $600. Dealer said that he wShould be getting an acid wash, primer, and then paint. My question to you is: Did you have your boat painted? Did the barnacles appear even though the boat was painted? Does painting actually work. Did you use paint with Copper in it? Is there a particular concentration of copper that needs to be in the paint?

A respirator will not help in any situation without correct fitment and the correct filter. In addition, a proper atmosphere is required before the respirator can work safely. I wear one on a nearly daily basis as an environmental response professional.
