A while back i wanted to report back on the results . of the progress. I did use the wisco pistons .Inspite of the warnings. I have been out testing my engine . it goes like a bandit . so far .. I did this inspite of the warnings .
1150 1974 115 hp .. well it was my rebuild right so I did it. I took my time rebored the engine found a great shop that did it right . told them about the pistons i intended to use . "that blind hole booring " i went .030 oversized . I started from the top of the engine took my time . and worked it down all the way down to the propeller had to pick out old waterpump rubber fragments jammed in the intake of the lower end . every bearing every seal every gasket .costing @ 1500.00 or less in parts that i needed with out doing electronics 'which are expensive i had good things there to work with. "tashadaddy, clams.texmark ,and others kept me going . I am happy to say that after all the the things i weatered trough . my stuff runs and working like it should . bam that motor fires up at the dock like a new one. so far . i used an infrared temp reader on the engine i shot it back there in the couling on top it likes 135 degrees . on a 90 degree day . water temp 78 .also found a bearing in the distribitor getting hot using this tool real hot mean hot 400 deg it was shot I missed that . i replaced it . two days ago .. after replaced it runs equal to engine temp. that can melt plastic . 440 degrees . the stator up there gets the temp going too . i will need to look at that next but it stays under 250 so far ..good night all

Thanks for the nod gung. Hear you on the "kept me going". Having gone through an I/O that spent too much time half submerged at a marina, I've walked the walk.

I really like your idea of using an infrared thermal gun to look things over. Looks like it paid off.
