Re: Guy's and Gal's check this out........

I was reading about these last night. They look like a blast - but I was really disappointed that they wind up really seeming like a one-shot wonder. They can't sustain a dive for more than a few feet, and require speed to make the dive in the first place. Starting at $65,000 it's like an enclosed jet ski.

The breaching jump does look like a lot of fun though.

What are you talking about??? You obviously have not researched these, they can sustain a dive for more than 'a few feet'. They can sustain the dive as long as the engine has air to burn, so if you want an extended dive, a 1-man sub that runs on battery power while submerged is the way to go.

Sorry - lack of clarity there. And, no - I haven't researched them much. Perhaps I've got it wrong, but they seem to rely on inertia to dive and consequently only dive a few feet DOWN. As long as the inertia and snorkel work, they can go forward for quite a ways. But the craft doesn't have dive trim or ballast for an extended submerged trip DOWN - again as best as I could tell from my reading the other morning.

The breach jumps do look like a good time though.

I'll do without. I can think of much better things to spend $65K on.

No way in H3ll would I go in that thing, there is a reason I joined the USAF and not the Navy, I don't do submarines, nope nada, not happening. I like to snorkle, I used to dive, but I don't like subs I don't care how fast and cute they look.

Gotcha
Correct, they are completely buoyant. As soon as the engine starts losing air to burn and thus power, they surface.
A one or two man sub would be very cool too!

$30K for a 2-man sub!

There is a submersible car made by as Swiss company. Only a tad over 1.5 million dollars.

Well ... $30K closer to what I can probably afford :D

Actually, that has some real appeal to it. I hadn't heard of it all, thanks for passing along. My Dad and I have joked for years about getting a sub on his lake to counteract all of the lake traffic.

The Swiss car is pretty cool too. I have seen that one, but the price tag is definitely moving in the wrong direction.
