Hello forum,
I notice that when I have been running the motor at a fast rpm for a few minutes that the water pumps pressure begins to drop from 10 to 12 lbs. psi to a psi of 5 lbs. where it stays steady. Once I drop rpms to around idle for a couple of minutes and then run the boat above 4000 rpm, the pressure goes to 12 lbs. once again then begins to settle at 5 psi after several minutes. It takes about 30 seconds for the pressure to lower from 12 lbs to 5lbs. The water flow out the pee holes doesn't seem to decrease in volume nor does the motor run hot. Is this pressure drop I am seeing do to the action of the thermostat opening and closing? Or is something else possibly going on?
