We have a 1983 Stingray 195SVC(runs great) right now we tow with a 1999 F-150 extended cab V-8 Auto 4X4. Does a great job but now we are looking at a 2006 Hummer H3(prices have fallen) H3 is loaded BUT...has the I-5 for a motor. Every where I have read it will tow boat but brakes may be a problem. Trailer does not have brakes.

Just like the size of the H3 and wife will drive it. So don't really was the big brother. But if a deal comes along may consider a H2.

Input appreciated..and no the H3 is not a girlie/man SUV:cool:

Thanks,
Nels

Re: H3 towing

We have a H2 at work. The worst gas mileage of any vehicle i have ever driven.
I would stay with the H3. The only thing that would worry me is the short wheelbase. At highway speeds it may give you a lot of trailer sway.

Re: H3 towing

adding brakes is not that hard. if the trailer has the back plate.

Re: H3 towing

Looks like the curb weights of the F-150 & H-3 are similar (H-3 about 500 lbs heavier) and the H-3 is rated to tow 4500lbs. There shouldn't be a problem. You're boat should be well within the weight limit, although I do agree completely with adding brakes to the trailer. Much safer.
