Hey boy and girls. Just wanted to pass on some learnings. Was going along at causing speed 2600 RPMs headed for breakfast across the lake when I felt a shudder in the engine. It progressively got worse. Eventually died and was able to start it and then it would die shortly there after. Would go in gear and then would die. Tried to rev it to see if it helped it did not. My first thought was bad gas. I limped into a fuel dock and topped it off with Supreme and put fuel stabil in it. Same results would run for a little while then die, but always started. Was going no where fast so we got towed. Super nice family and it was hot. My first thought was fuel filter as it was quick and easy. Still same problem. I came home did some searching on here and other sites. This is what i replaced:
1) Anti syphon valve at fuel pick up
2) Hose from tank to fuel filter
3) Pulled fuel pick and was stopped up with junk in the screen removed junk
Ordered fuel pick up incase it didn't work
I have put two full tanks though it since and not a bobble, glad I didn't take it in and have fuel pump changed.
Thank you for the forum saved me hundreds. I spent $12 fuel filter, $8 hose, $8 anti syphon, $15 fuel pump to pump out tank.
Mechanic
Fuel pump $250, $210 labor, then still would not have fixed it.
