Based on recommendations from this site I had my SS Prop rehubbed after spinning it on Lake Charlervoix. I asked the guy who put the new prop on where he sent his to have them rehubbed. He gave me the name of Henry H. Smith & Co. in Algonac, MI. You can Google them.

I talked to them and they said somewhere between $40 and $50 to rehub. I sent the prop at 6:00 pm yesterday via UPS for $12.71. Today they called me and said the prop is done and the total cost including shipping back to me is $31.00 and some change. I could not belive it, and I will have it back tomorrow.

The marina here in Delaware, OH wanted $120 to rehub it.

Last time I had one re-hubbed a couple of years ago, it was $30 down here in New Orleans.

Put the SS one back on today. You guys weren't kidding when you said it's a five minute job! Putting the aluminum one back in the box and storing it down in the engine compartment area next to the cooler. Hopefully that means I will never need it. I think I would have a hard time changing it while on the water, but if I had to I would give it a try.

Its good to hear that there are still companies that believe in customer service. I used to visit Algonac quite a bit when I lived in Michigan, nice area. I figure a spare prop, is the same as a spare tire. I'd rather always have it and never need it than need it and not have it. I bent an aluminum prop, pretty badly once and had to nurse it back, about 15 miles, no fun. Make sure you have the tools you need also.
