I have a 1998 150 johnson, run great, I noticed in top of block on # 2,(it would be approx. 2 or 3 o'clock when looking fore.) there is a casting flaw, crack dealybob that runs to where the optical sensor wire is. it is obvious that this is a casting flaw, and nota stress crack. I have put thick oil on it to see if it sucks and makes a vacum leak, it does not. is this the glue seam problem i have heard about, and should I marine-tex it or have it heli-arced? thanks in advance for your help.

i also forgot to say it is about 31/2 inches long, and if it wnent completely thru it would probably go thru the cyl.

No. The glue seam leak allows water to enter number one cylinder. If I understand where your describing, it would open into the water passage and allow water to escape to the outside of the block. If it is not leaking now you might just mark it and keep an eye on it. I would suggest you take it to an experienced dealer for his "hands on" evalation.

Good luck!

thanks for the reply, there currently is no leakage thru the flaw, either suction, or blowing. but if if should patch it is marine tex better than jb weld? any other products work good in this application?
