JB,

Had any electrical problems with your 320?

My sister-in-laws (2002) 320 is giving them fits. It keeps dying on the road-just quits and will not restart. The entire electrical system goes dead.

MB is perplexed, the dealer is perplexed.

She's afraid to drive it. It's happened four times now. Once they get it back to the dealer, it's OK.

Just curious.

Djohn's Is there an electrical system disabler for the security system?

The vehicles I have now, the key material is somehow measured to make sure it is the correct key to start the vehicle. I have had problems with these things. The measuring device have had some problems that have been hard to fix because they are so intermittent and can be affected by temp and humidity.

Hi, DJohns.

When I first got the vehicle there were minor problems with cigar lighter and wiring for trailer lights (The previous owner didn't smoke or tow, even though he got the towing package.)

The dealer fixed them right the first time and I have had no problems since.

I suspect that Scoop is on the right track. I think that if the computer erroneously decides that the truck is being stolen, it can shut down everything, but that it would require a reset by the Service guy to turn it back on.

On my early '98 (no. 1132) the computer would only lock the doors, turn on the emergency flashers and honk the horn.

I think your sister-in-law should insist on a replacement computer.

Good luck. :)

All,

Thanks, I think y'all are on to something. I believe you're right about the alarm system having something to do with it. At least that's how the line of vehicles I represent works.

I'll pass it along.

Thanks again, I'll keep you posted.

JB,

Update.

The selling dealer was of no help. Working through a dealer 80 miles away. (Not too bad, the same town their daughter goes to school) That dealer got MB to buy it back.

She's in another '02 (new) and all seems to be going well. Not hurt financially either.

Thanks for the advice-everyone. :D
