Hey my friend,

How's your gums? Notice I didn't say "choppers"
:p ;) :)
Only asking 'cause I hadn't heard anything frome ya lately. :( :(

Are you fitted with falsies yet? I'm curious how they feel,if you have them yet. I wear a prosthesis on my right leg (below-knee) and have had problems with new ones fitting.

One tip I can give you is that moistened teabags rubbed over the gums will toughen them up. Surely you have tea "over there". :)

Let us know how you're doing.

Hope to hear from ya!

Stans away on a training course for his new job.

Don't worry about his lack of teeth, being a Scottsman he only eats porridge and haggis and if you've ever tried having a conversation with a Scott you will know that you can't understand a word they say so the slurred speech wont be a problem to him.

Keep on smiling Stan!

:D :p :D

Re: Hailing Standeezy

Hi Jeff and the gang and thanks for the thoughts.

Started training on Monday (after travelling to a not-very luxurious hotel on Sunday).

Got a whole two days off, sort of. Arrived home late last night and uniform laundry is top priority: leaving again tomorrow lunch-time.

First week has been agony: learning how respect our "customers" and always being "non-offensive" (I may fail that part of the course :D ).
The world has gone officially bonkers: I'm not even allowed to tell jokes about myself being Scottish in case it's classed as racist humour?????????????
The one good day has been seeing the types of vehicles I'll be driving and all them pretty flashing lights and fancy day-glo stripes :D :D

Teeth (or lack of) means I'm doing exactly like RPJS says, eating lots of custard and soup and sucking on biscuits. Speech isn't too bad now but the mouth still hurts a lot, although I'm sure this is only temporary.

You guys be good while I'm away and don't post anything I wouldn't :D :D ;)

take care guys, normal service should be resumed in a few weeks.......................

Closest link I can get to a description of the general duties Techno is this

No pictures on that page of the fancy vehicles and uniform :D

Nos; I'll keep my eyes open and I promise not to call your reg number in ;) (and by the way: we carry some great food in the vehicle too!)

RPJS: yep! long drive across an horrid road just to start work. Looking to roll the service out from the motorways onto other routes once the service is fully up and running. We "go-live" at the end of May. Going down south in two weeks time for several weeks of driver training so keep your eyes open for news of accidents involving technocoloured vehicles :D

Well, better dash, only had to eat some home cooking and get my kit washed and ironed ready for another week in the classroom......only fallen asleep twice so far......once for two days the second time for three days :D

Catch y'all next week (we get the Easter holiday!!)

"Highly trained Traffic Officers patrol from distinctive and highly visible Agency vehicles eventually 24hrs per day 7 days a week. You will notice Traffic Officers present and assisting motorists at the following scenes..."

I guess this means you will be in training for another several days. ;) :p

Nooo... I was asleep on the sofa in our front room as drunk as a skunk :D

Scarily though, I do appear to have several almost identical doubles-one of whom is/was apparently a burglar and heroin dealer. I used to get people shouting abuse at me in the street until I said something and they realised I wasn't who they thought I was.

Re: Hailing Standeezy

Hi Guys, sorry I've been AWOL for the last few weeks. I did get last weekend off but my broadband went down at the same time
Time at weekends has been short due to the journey times to and from the training and the fact that we have to get our kit prepped ready for the next week.

Job is way too cool to even begin to describe and it is looking like I'll be enjoying myself a lot........rolling roadblocks are great fun :D

Gums have healed and steak will be on the menu again soon!

Nos: I'll keep my eyes open for "Young European" and you can help me when I do my rolling roadblocks........we usually pick an HGV to help us so bear in mind it might be me when the christmas tree lights up in front of you and don't go barrelling over the top of my vehicle ;) (We had an incident not so long ago when a foreign HGV ploughed into the back of one of our vehicles: the crew will never work again. The driver tried to run from the scene and was DUI  )

I even got a chance to look at my boat briefly yesterday..........from the bedroom window :(

Should be back on iboats proper in about two to three weeks time and will be starting proper shifts at the end of May so normal(-ish) service will be resumed by then.

You guys (and girls) take good care until we meet again, slainge! :D
