I have an 89' Johnson 110 HP and over the weekend I bent it pretty good, defently not usable, I am looking to get a new prop, the current one says 13 3/8'' x 17. I am assuming the 17 is the pitch. what is a good prop to get?

Re: Hammered my prop, need a new one can you help?

I have always used OEM props, i have had 2 Michigan wheel props, one was terrible, snapped of half a blade and never knew I hit anything but the prop I have on now is a Michigan and I haven't had any problems with and this is my second season with it.

check Ebay, always a good selection af props, if you look long enough you can score a stainless for cheap.

It'd be a shame to buy a stern-lifter from ebay and find out you needed a bow-lifter.....
First, pull what's left of the prop off and find the P/N so we know which it is.
At that point we can tell ya what prop to look for.

I never heard of a stern lifter or bow lifter prop.
Could you explain?
Thanks!

All props have certain characteristics. Some because of the design tend to lift the stern and others lift the bow. As stated above you really don't want to purchase a prop that will focus on lifting the bow if you really need one to left the stern. If you can list your current prop part number maybe someone can tell you what that particular prop is designed to do for your boat.

Never heard of such a thing, doesn't mean it doesn't exist just never heard of it.

I thought he was looking for brand names.

I found a link on the stern lift subject.

My last boat was a very stern heavy Baja. It took forever to get out of the water and the bow lifted way up making it impossible to see, even though the boat reached over 60mph. A 4 blade SS Stiletto prop lifted the stern that I never needed to install anything else such as trim tabs.

Don't let my post count fool ya.....:)
Sometimes we may not know who we are talking with.....:D
Yes, there are Extreme bow-lifters, Over-all lifters with high concentration of bow-lift, etc, etc....and yes, there are stern-lifters and rndn pretty much gave a good example of that extreme.
Get a P/N and we can help.
