I have had a good few days working on the boat this week. I finished glossing the outside of the hull and will be ready to fit the new rubrails tomorrow. Will post some new pics on my sharepage this week for anyone who may be interested. All that remains apart from the console and painting/waterproofing the deck is to build and fit a stainless steel handrail at about 950mm above deck height, right round the boat. I feel this is prudent due to lack of freeboard, bearing in mind I will be fishing from this boat in the North Sea. I found somewhere where I can buy s/steel fittings and tubing relatively cheaply, but I could use some advice on tube diameter and the best way to waterproof the topsides where the screws go in. Also, I am going to be fitting an auxiliary in the near future, should I incorporate a mounting bracket into the handrail or go straight to the hull??? How and where will I fit the trandsucer for my fishfinder? Does it go on top of the finished gloss or do I have to fix it to the gel-coat???
