hard boat cover

Hi all,
I have an older boat that came with a white vinyl type fitted cover. I need to rewaterproof and soften it as each time I take it on or off it is cracking. It has become quite porous, but I am not in the position to replace it. At home I put a larger tarp over the vinyl cover as well, but when travelling obviously can't do that.
Would anyone have any ideas please?

Re: hard boat cover

i aint tryin to be smart. but travel w/o yer cover on... i do. never have trailered w/ cover in place on my boat. only store it with the cover on, and yer tarp idea seems like a best bet at home if ya aint got the funds to replace it. perhaps a aftermarket semi custom fit cover would be more affordable. those work pretty well for me and wasn't to cost prohibitive..........
maybe take the vinyl cover to a vinyl repair specialist in yer area. maybe they can give ya the low down as to what is best for what ya got left......
but when travelling obviously can't do that
i don't know, i've seen folks pullin their blue tarp ballons, flapping down the road. it can be done. don't look like to good of an idea to me though......
